Desiree Ruhstrat is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1971, and grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist, so it was natural for her to develop an interest in music from a young age. Desiree started playing the violin when she was just three years old, and by the time she was six, she was already performing in public. She received her formal training at the Music Institute of Chicago, where she studied under the guidance of renowned violinist Roland Vamos. She later went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. Desiree's talent and dedication to music soon caught the attention of the music world, and she began to receive invitations to perform at major concerts and festivals. One of her most significant performances was at the Ravinia Festival in 1990, where she performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This performance was a turning point in her career, and it helped establish her as one of the most promising young violinists of her generation. Over the years, Desiree has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her work as a soloist, Desiree is also a member of the Lincoln Trio, a chamber music ensemble that she co-founded in 2003. They have also performed at some of the world's most renowned concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Wigmore Hall in London. Desiree's dedication to music has earned her many awards and honors throughout her career. In 1992, she was awarded the top prize at the International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland. She was also a winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1993, which helped launch her career as a soloist. Desiree is also a passionate educator and has taught at many prestigious institutions, including the Music Institute of Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently a professor of violin at the Northern Illinois University School of Music. In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Desiree is also a dedicated philanthropist. She is the founder of the Music Institute of Chicago's Academy for gifted pre-college musicians, which provides young musicians with the opportunity to receive intensive training and mentorship from some of the world's most renowned musicians.
