He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Kjell showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Kjell's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed his skills. By the age of ten, Kjell had already performed in several concerts and had won several local competitions. In 1990, Kjell was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Yoheved Kaplinsky. During his time at Juilliard, Kjell won several awards and competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. After graduating from Juilliard in 1995, Kjell began his professional career as a concert pianist. He quickly gained recognition for his virtuosic performances and his ability to interpret complex musical works. Kjell's repertoire includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. Throughout his career, Kjell has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Kjell has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances, including the Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Soloist Performance in 2003. He has also been awarded the Order of Merit by the Norwegian government for his contributions to the arts. In addition to his performing career, Kjell is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at several universities and conservatories, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris.
