Kolbein Haga is a renowned classical music artist known for his exceptional skills as a pianist. He was born on May 12, 1985, in Oslo, Norway, to a family of musicians. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a violinist. From a young age, Kolbein showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Kolbein's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed to become a skilled pianist. He attended the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher Einar Steen-Nøkleberg. During his time at the institute, Kolbein participated in several competitions and won numerous awards. In 2003, he won first prize in the Norwegian National Piano Competition, and in 2004, he won first prize in the Steinway Piano Competition. After completing his studies at the Barratt Due Institute of Music, Kolbein continued his education at the Royal College of Music in London. There, he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher Dmitri Alexeev. During his time at the Royal College of Music, Kolbein continued to excel in competitions and performances. In 2008, Kolbein won first prize in the prestigious International Grieg Competition in Bergen, Norway. This competition is held every three years and is dedicated to the music of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Kolbein's victory in this competition helped to solidify his reputation as one of the most talented young pianists of his generation. Since then, Kolbein has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. Kolbein's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Edvard Grieg, and his performances of Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor are considered some of the best in the world. In addition to his performances, Kolbein is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge and skills to the next generation of musicians.
