Trio Van Hengel is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The ensemble consists of three main members: violinist Lisa Jacobs, cellist Joachim Eijlander, and pianist Ksenia Kouzmenko. The trio has gained recognition for their unique and dynamic performances, which showcase their individual talents as well as their ability to work together as a cohesive unit. Lisa Jacobs, the violinist of the trio, was born in 1985 in Amsterdam. She began playing the violin at the age of six and went on to study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Jacobs has won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Dutch Music Prize in 2008. She has performed as a soloist with many orchestras around the world, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Joachim Eijlander, the cellist of the trio, was born in 1986 in Tilburg, Netherlands. He began playing the cello at the age of eight and went on to study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Eijlander has won several awards and competitions, including the Princess Christina Competition and the National Cello Competition. He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Residentie Orchestra. Ksenia Kouzmenko, the pianist of the trio, was born in 1985 in Moscow, Russia. She began playing the piano at the age of five and went on to study at the Moscow State Conservatory. Kouzmenko has won several awards and competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Rome and the International Piano Competition in Enschede. She has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The trio first came together in 2012, when they were invited to perform at the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. The festival is a celebration of classical music that takes place every year in August, and it features performances by both established and up-and-coming musicians. The trio's performance at the festival was well-received, and they decided to continue playing together as a group. Since their formation, Trio Van Hengel has performed at many prestigious venues around the world, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York.
