Sámal Petersen is a classical music artist from the Faroe Islands, born on August 22, 1986. He grew up in a musical family, with his father being a composer and his mother a singer. Petersen started playing the piano at the age of six and later began studying the violin. At the age of 16, Petersen moved to Denmark to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. He continued his studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and later at the Royal College of Music in London, England. Petersen has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed in numerous music festivals, such as the Tivoli Festival in Copenhagen and the Bergen International Festival in Norway. One of Petersen's most notable performances was his debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015, where he performed the Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius.
