Giora Schmidt is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1983, to a family of musicians. His father, Pinchas Zukerman, is a world-renowned violinist, while his mother, Amanda Forsyth, is a cellist. Growing up in a musical family, Giora was exposed to classical music from a young age and began playing the violin at the age of four. Giora's talent for the violin was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of six and made his orchestral debut at the age of eleven, playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He continued to perform with orchestras throughout his teenage years, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. In 2000, Giora was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with the renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. He graduated from Juilliard in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music degree and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the University of Southern California, where he studied with Robert Lipsett. After completing his studies, Giora began to establish himself as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed at major music festivals, including the Ravinia Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. Giora has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2000, he won the Philadelphia Orchestra's Greenfield Competition, and in 2003, he won the Aspen Music Festival's Violin Concerto Competition. He was also a finalist in the 2005 Naumburg International Violin Competition. In addition to his solo career, Giora is also an active chamber musician. He is a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and has performed with many other chamber music ensembles, including the Zukerman ChamberPlayers and the Guarneri Quartet. He has also collaborated with many other musicians, including pianist Yefim Bronfman and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Giora is known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he performs. He has a particular affinity for the music of Bach and has recorded several of Bach's works for solo violin. He has also recorded works by other composers, including Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. In addition to his performing career, Giora is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Juilliard School and the University of Southern California and has given masterclasses around the world. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Giora continues to perform and record, and his career shows no signs of slowing down.
