Izumi Sinfoniettá Osaka is a classical music ensemble based in Osaka, Japan. The ensemble was founded in 1996 by conductor Junichi Hirokami and has since become one of the most prominent orchestras in Japan. The ensemble's founding was inspired by the desire to create a new type of orchestra that would be more flexible and responsive to the needs of contemporary music. The name "Izumi" was chosen to reflect the ensemble's commitment to exploring new musical frontiers and to pay homage to the Izumi region of Osaka, where the ensemble is based.
