Island is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2018 by three young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in London, UK, and consists of violinist Maria Włoszczowska, cellist Pablo Hernán Benedí, and pianist Tom Poster. Maria Włoszczowska was born in Poland and began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has performed as a soloist with many orchestras around the world. Pablo Hernán Benedí was born in Spain and started playing the cello at the age of five. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has performed with many orchestras and ensembles in Europe and the United States. Tom Poster was born in the UK and began playing the piano at the age of four. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has performed as a soloist with many orchestras and at major music festivals around the world. Island's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, as well as contemporary composers such as Thomas Adès and Brett Dean.
