Harry Traksmann was born on May 15, 1985, in Tallinn, Estonia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a violinist and his mother a pianist. At the age of four, Harry began playing the violin and showed a natural talent for the instrument. He received his first lessons from his father and later studied at the Tallinn Music High School. In 2003, Harry was accepted into the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Mari Tampere-Bezrodny. During his studies, Harry participated in various competitions and won several awards, including the first prize at the Estonian National Violin Competition in 2005 and the second prize at the International Louis Spohr Competition in Weimar, Germany, in 2006. After completing his studies in Estonia, Harry continued his education at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany, where he studied with Professor Ulf Wallin. During his time in Berlin, Harry won the first prize at the International Max Rostal Competition in Berlin in 2009 and the second prize at the International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hannover, Germany, in 2012. Harry has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also given recitals in major concert halls around the world, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of the highlights of Harry's career was his performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra in 2015, which was broadcast live on Estonian television and received critical acclaim. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, and Vladimir Ashkenazy. In addition to his career as a performer, Harry is also a dedicated teacher. He has given masterclasses in Estonia, Germany, and the United States and has served as a jury member for various competitions, including the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki, Finland. Harry has recorded several albums, including a CD of works by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, which was released in 2010 and received the Estonian Music Award for Best Classical Album. He has also recorded the complete works for violin and piano by Estonian composer Eduard Tubin, which was released in 2017. Harry is known for his passionate and expressive playing, as well as his deep understanding of the music he performs. He is highly respected in the classical music world and continues to inspire audiences and musicians alike with his performances and teaching.
