Sonia Tedla is a classical music artist who has made a name for herself in the world of music. Born on May 12, 1985, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Sonia was raised in a family that valued education and music. Her parents were both educators, and they encouraged her to pursue her passion for music from a young age. Sonia's love for music began when she was just five years old. She started playing the piano and quickly fell in love with the instrument. Her parents recognized her talent and enrolled her in music lessons. Sonia's piano teacher, who was also a renowned musician, saw her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Sonia's talent and dedication to music paid off when she won her first piano competition at the age of eight. This victory gave her the confidence to continue pursuing her passion for music. She continued to participate in various competitions and concerts throughout her childhood and teenage years. After completing her high school education, Sonia decided to pursue a degree in music. She enrolled at the Addis Ababa University School of Music, where she studied piano performance. In 2007, Sonia graduated from the Addis Ababa University School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. She then decided to further her education and enrolled in the Master of Music program at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in the United States. During her time at the University of Michigan, Sonia had the opportunity to study under some of the world's most renowned pianists. She also had the opportunity to perform in various concerts and recitals. In 2010, Sonia graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Music degree in piano performance. After completing her studies, Sonia began her career as a professional musician. She started performing in various concerts and recitals across the United States and Europe. Her performances were well-received, and she quickly gained a reputation as a talented and skilled pianist. In 2012, Sonia won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The competition, which is held every four years, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Sonia's victory at the competition was a major milestone in her career and brought her international recognition. Following her victory at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Sonia continued to perform in various concerts and recitals. She also started recording her music and released her first album, "Sonia Tedla Plays Beethoven," in 2014. The album was well-received and showcased Sonia's talent and skill as a pianist. In addition to her career as a musician, Sonia is also a dedicated music educator. She has taught piano at various universities and music schools across the United States and Europe.
