Born on December 12, 1980, in Tokyo, Japan, Chie showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue music as a career. Chie's musical journey began with her enrollment in the Yamaha Music School, where she received formal training in piano. She quickly excelled in her studies and began participating in various competitions. At the age of ten, Chie won first prize in the Yamaha Music Foundation Piano Competition, which marked the beginning of her successful career in music. Chie continued her studies at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. During her time at Toho Gakuen, Chie had the opportunity to study under renowned pianists such as Hiroko Nakamura and Akiko Ebi. She also participated in masterclasses with world-renowned pianists, including Murray Perahia and András Schiff. After completing her studies at Toho Gakuen, Chie moved to the United States to further her education. She enrolled in the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she received a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. While at Peabody, Chie studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Leon Fleisher. Chie's talent and hard work paid off when she won several prestigious awards and competitions. In 2003, she won first prize in the Washington International Piano Artists Competition, which led to her debut performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She also won first prize in the 2004 Hilton Head International Piano Competition and the 2005 World Piano Competition in Cincinnati. Chie's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance, musicality, and emotional depth. She has performed in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. She has also collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Chie's most memorable performances was her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2006. She performed a program that included works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Ravel, which received critical acclaim.
