His father, Jan Reszke, was a renowned tenor, and his mother, Maria, was a pianist. Edouard's siblings, Joseph and Jean, were also singers, and together they formed the famous Reszke brothers trio. Edouard began his musical training at an early age, studying piano and singing with his mother. He made his debut as a singer in 1874, performing in Warsaw. He then went on to study at the Paris Conservatory, where he was a student of Auguste-Joseph Franchomme and Jean-Baptiste Faure. He made his debut at the Paris Opera in 1879, singing the role of the King in "Le Cid" by Jules Massenet.
