Role:ConductorMathias Reumert is a Danish percussionist and conductor who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in 1979 in Copenhagen, Reumert grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. He began playing the drums at the age of six and quickly developed a passion for percussion. Reumert studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in percussion. During his studies, he also spent time at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, Germany, where he studied with renowned percussionist Christoph Caskel. After completing his studies, Reumert began performing with some of the leading orchestras in Denmark, including the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Copenhagen Philharmonic. He quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and versatile percussionist, capable of playing a wide range of instruments and styles. In addition to his work as a percussionist, Reumert also began conducting orchestras and ensembles. He studied conducting with Jorma Panula at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and has since conducted orchestras in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. One of the highlights of Reumert's career came in 2008, when he was appointed principal timpanist of the Royal Danish Orchestra. This prestigious position put him at the forefront of the Danish classical music scene and allowed him to work with some of the country's top musicians and conductors. In 2011, Reumert was awarded the prestigious Léonie Sonning Music Prize, which is considered one of the most important music awards in Denmark. The prize is awarded annually to a musician or ensemble that has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Reumert was recognized for his exceptional talent as a percussionist and conductor, as well as his commitment to promoting classical music to a wider audience.
