Domenic Salerni is a classical music artist who has made a name for himself in the world of opera. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1987, Salerni grew up in a musical family. His father, Anthony Salerni, is a composer and professor of music at West Chester University, while his mother, Mary Salerni, is a voice teacher and performer. Salerni began his musical training at a young age, studying piano and voice. He attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, where he focused on vocal performance. After graduating, he went on to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. At Curtis, Salerni continued to hone his vocal skills, studying with renowned opera singers such as Marlena Malas and Mikael Eliasen. He also had the opportunity to perform in a number of productions, including Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Puccini's "La Bohème." After graduating from Curtis, Salerni went on to pursue a career in opera. He made his professional debut in 2011, singing the role of Count Almaviva in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" with the Opera Company of Philadelphia. The performance was well-received, and Salerni quickly began to establish himself as a rising star in the opera world. Over the years, Salerni has performed in a number of major productions, both in the United States and abroad. Some of his most notable performances include singing the role of Tamino in Mozart's "The Magic Flute" with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and performing the role of Ferrando in Mozart's "Così fan tutte" with the Glimmerglass Festival. Salerni has also received a number of awards and accolades for his work in opera. In 2012, he was named a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, one of the most prestigious competitions for young opera singers in the United States. He was also a finalist in the 2013 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, and has received awards from organizations such as the Gerda Lissner Foundation and the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation. In addition to his work as an opera singer, Salerni is also a composer. He has written a number of works for voice and chamber ensemble, including "Songs of Innocence and Experience," which was premiered by the Curtis 20/21 Ensemble in 2011. His music has been performed by a number of ensembles and artists, including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Festival of Song. Salerni continues to perform regularly, both as an opera singer and as a composer. He is known for his powerful voice and his ability to bring depth and emotion to his performances.
