Alexander Mikhalëv was born on May 15, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional musicians. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a violinist. From a young age, Alexander showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Alexander began his musical education at the age of five, when he started taking piano lessons from his father. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument, and his father recognized his potential. Alexander's father became his primary teacher, and he spent many hours practicing and perfecting his technique. In 2010, Alexander won first prize in the International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. This was a major achievement for him, and it helped to establish him as one of the top pianists of his generation. He continued to win awards and accolades for his performances, including the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011.
