Tatjana Rankovich is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1959, Rankovich showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of six. She quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument, and her parents recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Rankovich's early training was rigorous and demanding, but she thrived under the guidance of her teachers. She studied at the Music Academy in Belgrade, where she received a thorough grounding in the classical repertoire and developed her technical skills. She also had the opportunity to perform in public, which helped her to gain confidence and experience as a performer. In 1980, Rankovich moved to the United States to continue her studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she worked with some of the most renowned pianists and teachers in the world, including Adele Marcus, Gyorgy Sandor, and Rosina Lhevinne. She also had the opportunity to perform in some of the city's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Rankovich's talent and hard work paid off, and she quickly established herself as a rising star in the classical music world. She won numerous awards and competitions, including the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, and the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She has recorded numerous albums, including works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, and has been praised for her sensitive and nuanced interpretations of these composers' works. She has also been a strong advocate for new music, and has premiered works by many contemporary composers. She was awarded the Order of Merit by the President of Serbia in 2010, and was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 2012.
