Kevin Fox is a Canadian cellist, singer, and songwriter who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on May 22, 1975, in Toronto, Canada, Fox grew up in a musical family and began playing the cello at the age of four. He was inspired by his father, who was a professional cellist, and his mother, who was a singer. Fox attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where he studied cello performance and music theory. He also studied at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance. During his studies, Fox was a member of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. After completing his studies, Fox began his professional career as a cellist, performing with various orchestras and ensembles in Canada and the United States. He also worked as a session musician, recording with artists such as Celine Dion, Sarah McLachlan, and Tom Cochrane. In 2003, Fox joined the Canadian band The Barenaked Ladies as their touring cellist and backup vocalist. He toured with the band for several years, performing in front of thousands of fans across North America and Europe. During this time, Fox also began writing and recording his own music, blending his classical training with his love of pop and rock music. In 2006, Fox released his debut solo album, "Set Right," which featured his original songs and arrangements of classical pieces. The album received critical acclaim and earned Fox a nomination for a Canadian Folk Music Award. He followed up with his second album, "Songs for Cello & Voice," in 2008, which featured his unique blend of cello and vocal harmonies. In addition to his solo work, Fox has collaborated with a number of other artists, including The Tenors, Chantal Kreviazuk, and Ron Sexsmith. He has also composed music for film and television, including the theme song for the Canadian TV series "The Listener." One of Fox's most notable performances was his appearance at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he performed with The Barenaked Ladies during the closing ceremony. The performance was watched by millions of people around the world and cemented Fox's reputation as a talented and versatile musician. In 2012, Fox released his third solo album, "Come Alive," which featured his original songs and arrangements of popular covers.
