Sheila Escovedo, better known as Sheila E., is a renowned American percussionist, singer, and songwriter. Born on December 12, 1957, in Oakland, California, Sheila E. was born into a family of musicians. Her father, Pete Escovedo, was a percussionist, and her uncles, Alejandro and Coke Escovedo, were also musicians. Growing up, Sheila E. was exposed to various genres of music, including Latin jazz, R&B, and rock. Sheila E. began her music career at a young age, performing with her father's band, Azteca, when she was just 15 years old.
