Maria Popescu was born on May 15, 1985, in Bucharest, Romania. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a violinist. From a young age, Maria showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As Maria grew older, her passion for music continued to grow. She began studying at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. She then went on to receive her Master's degree in Piano Performance from the same university. Throughout her studies, Maria had the opportunity to perform in numerous concerts and competitions. One of her most notable performances was at the George Enescu International Festival in 2007, where she performed as a soloist with the Romanian National Orchestra. Her performance was met with critical acclaim, and she was praised for her technical skill and emotional depth. In addition to her performances, Maria also received numerous awards and accolades for her musical talent. She was the recipient of the Romanian Musician of the Year award in 2008 and was named a Steinway Artist in 2010.
