La Maîtrise de Bretagne is a classical music artist that has been captivating audiences with their stunning performances for over 30 years. The choir was founded in 1989 by Jean-Marie Airault, a renowned conductor and music educator, with the aim of providing young singers with the opportunity to develop their musical talents and perform at the highest level. The choir is based in Rennes, the capital city of the Brittany region in France, and is made up of around 50 young singers aged between 8 and 25 years old. The singers are selected through a rigorous audition process and come from all over the region, bringing with them a diverse range of musical backgrounds and experiences. Under the guidance of Jean-Marie Airault, La Maîtrise de Bretagne quickly established itself as one of the leading youth choirs in France, known for its exceptional musicality and technical precision. The choir has performed extensively throughout France and Europe, collaborating with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras in the world. One of the highlights of La Maîtrise de Bretagne's career was their performance at the 1998 World Cup in France, where they sang the national anthem before the opening match between France and South Africa. The performance was watched by millions of people around the world and helped to raise the profile of the choir on an international level. Over the years, La Maîtrise de Bretagne has also been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque de l'Académie Charles Cros in 2001 for their recording of Francis Poulenc's Gloria. The choir has also been recognized for its commitment to promoting contemporary music, with several commissions and premieres of new works by composers such as Thierry Machuel and Philippe Hersant.
