He won several awards and competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, and the International Bach Competition in Leipzig, Germany. Krekow's career as a professional musician began in the early 1980s when he made his debut performance at the Berlin Philharmonic. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist, and his performances were highly sought after by orchestras and concert halls around the world.
