"Miraï" is a contemporary classical composition by Japanese composer Ezko Kikoutchi. The piece was composed in 2018 and premiered on October 20th of the same year at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. The composition consists of four movements, each with its own unique characteristics and themes. The first movement, titled "Birth," begins with a soft and delicate piano melody that gradually builds in intensity as other instruments, such as strings and woodwinds, are introduced. The movement represents the beginning of life and the wonder and excitement that comes with it. The second movement, "Discovery," is more upbeat and playful, with a lively rhythm and cheerful melodies. This movement represents the joy of exploring and discovering new things, as well as the innocence and curiosity of childhood. The third movement, "Struggle," is more intense and dramatic, with a sense of urgency and tension. This movement represents the challenges and obstacles that one must overcome in life, as well as the determination and perseverance required to do so. The final movement, "Reflection," is more introspective and contemplative, with a slower tempo and more somber melodies. This movement represents the end of life and the reflection and contemplation that comes with it. Overall, "Miraï" is a beautiful and emotional composition that captures the various stages and experiences of life. Kikoutchi's use of different instruments and melodies effectively conveys the different moods and themes of each movement, creating a cohesive and powerful piece of music.
