Encomis sacra musice decantanda, Op. 6 is a sacred music composition by Benedictus a Sancto Josepho, a Spanish composer and organist of the Baroque era. The composition was completed in 1695 and premiered in the same year in the Royal Chapel of Madrid. The composition consists of six movements, each of which is a setting of a different Latin text. The first movement is a setting of the text "O quam suavis est, Domine, spiritus tuus" (O how sweet is your spirit, Lord), and is characterized by its gentle, flowing melody and rich harmonies. The second movement, "Laudate Dominum in sanctis eius" (Praise the Lord in his holy places), is a lively and joyful setting that features a prominent trumpet part. The third movement, "Benedicam Dominum in omni tempore" (I will bless the Lord at all times), is a more contemplative setting that features a solo soprano voice and a simple, yet elegant accompaniment. The fourth movement, "Laudate Dominum de caelis" (Praise the Lord from the heavens), is a grand and majestic setting that features a full choir and orchestra. The fifth movement, "Exultate iusti in Domino" (Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous), is a lively and celebratory setting that features a solo tenor voice and a lively accompaniment. The final movement, "Benedicite omnia opera Domini Domino" (Bless all the works of the Lord), is a grand and triumphant setting that features a full choir and orchestra, as well as a prominent organ part. Overall, Encomis sacra musice decantanda, Op. 6 is a masterful example of Baroque sacred music, characterized by its rich harmonies, intricate counterpoint, and grand, celebratory style.
