'Cekám Te (after Janacek)' is a contemporary classical composition by Czech composer and musician Iva Bittová. The piece was composed in 2018 and premiered on September 28, 2018, at the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague, Czech Republic. The composition is divided into three movements, each inspired by the music of Czech composer Leoš Janáček. The first movement, titled "The Intimate Letters," is based on Janáček's String Quartet No. 2, also known as "Intimate Letters." The movement features Bittová's signature use of extended vocal techniques, including yodeling and throat singing, as well as her virtuosic violin playing. The second movement, titled "The Cunning Little Vixen," is based on Janáček's opera of the same name. Bittová's interpretation of the opera's music is highly improvisational, with her violin and voice weaving in and out of the original melodies. The final movement, titled "The Makropulos Affair," is based on Janáček's opera of the same name. Bittová's interpretation of the opera's music is more abstract and experimental, with her violin and voice creating a soundscape that evokes the themes of the opera. Overall, 'Cekám Te (after Janacek)' is a highly personal and idiosyncratic interpretation of Janáček's music. Bittová's use of extended vocal techniques and improvisation creates a unique and contemporary take on Janáček's work, while still paying homage to the composer's legacy.
