Marie Bournisien is a French harpist who has established herself as one of the leading classical musicians of her generation. Born in 1989 in Rennes, France, Bournisien began playing the harp at the age of six. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began studying with renowned harpists in France and abroad. Bournisien's early musical education was focused on classical music, and she quickly developed a deep appreciation for the works of composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Debussy. She also began to explore other genres of music, including jazz and world music, which would later influence her own compositions and performances. As a teenager, Bournisien began to gain recognition for her musical abilities. She won several prestigious competitions, including the Concours International de Harpe Lily Laskine and the Concours International de Harpe de la Ville de Paris. These victories helped to establish her as a rising star in the classical music world. After completing her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Bournisien began to perform extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Bournisien's performances have been praised for their technical virtuosity and emotional depth. She is known for her ability to bring out the unique qualities of the harp, creating a rich and nuanced sound that is both powerful and delicate.
