The Peabody Children's Chorus is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its angelic voices for over 40 years. Founded in 1983 by Doreen Falby, the ensemble has become one of the most respected children's choirs in the United States. Doreen Falby, a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, founded the Peabody Children's Chorus with the goal of providing children with a high-quality music education and performance opportunities. The ensemble started with just 30 members, but quickly grew in popularity and size. Today, the Peabody Children's Chorus has over 200 members ranging in age from 6 to 18 years old. The Peabody Children's Chorus is made up of four different choirs: the Preparatory Choir, the Training Choir, the Chorale, and the Chamber Choir. Each choir is designed to meet the needs of children at different stages of their musical development. The Preparatory Choir is for children ages 6 to 8 who are just starting to learn how to sing. The Training Choir is for children ages 9 to 11 who have some singing experience. The Chorale is for children ages 12 to 14 who have more advanced singing skills. Finally, the Chamber Choir is for children ages 15 to 18 who are the most advanced singers in the ensemble. The Peabody Children's Chorus has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the White House. The ensemble has also performed internationally, with tours to Europe, Asia, and South America. The Peabody Children's Chorus has collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of the Peabody Children's Chorus's career was their performance at the 2009 Presidential Inauguration. The ensemble was invited to perform at the Inauguration by President Barack Obama, and they sang "America the Beautiful" on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The performance was broadcast live on television and watched by millions of people around the world. The Peabody Children's Chorus has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout its history.
