Artist Info

Waterline is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its innovative and dynamic performances that showcase the beauty and complexity of classical music. The founding members of Waterline were violinist Laura Goldberg, cellist Andrew Janss, and pianist Conor Hanick. All three musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and ensembles, and they were eager to create a group that would allow them to explore their own artistic vision and collaborate with other like-minded musicians. From the beginning, Waterline was committed to performing a wide range of classical music, from the Baroque era to contemporary compositions. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, and Shostakovich, as well as lesser-known pieces by emerging composers. One of the highlights of Waterline's early career was its debut performance at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City in 2016. The ensemble received critical acclaim for its performance of Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio, which showcased the musicians' technical skill and emotional depth. Since then, Waterline has performed at numerous venues throughout the United States, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, and the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in New York. The ensemble has also collaborated with other musicians and artists, including the dance company BalletCollective and the visual artist Kevork Mourad. In addition to its live performances, Waterline has also released several recordings that have received widespread praise. The ensemble's debut album, "Waterline," features works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich, and was hailed by critics as "a stunning showcase of the ensemble's virtuosity and musicality." The ensemble's second album, "Reflections," features works by Debussy, Ravel, and Fauré, and was praised for its "exquisite attention to detail and nuance." Waterline has also been recognized for its contributions to the classical music world. In 2018, the ensemble was awarded the Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grant, which allowed them to collaborate with the dance company BalletCollective on a new work that combined live music and dance. The ensemble has also been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Washington Post. Today, Waterline continues to push the boundaries of classical music and inspire audiences with its innovative and passionate performances. The ensemble's current members include Laura Goldberg on violin, Andrew Janss on cello, and pianist Molly Morkoski. With their commitment to excellence and their dedication to exploring the rich and diverse world of classical music, Waterline is sure to remain a vital and exciting force in the world of chamber music for years to come.
