Siren Ensemble is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The founding members of Siren Ensemble were violinist Sarah Whitney, violist Angela Pickett, cellist Laura Metcalf, and pianist Elizabeth Joy Roe. All four musicians had extensive experience performing as soloists and in various chamber music groups before coming together to form Siren Ensemble. From the beginning, Siren Ensemble set out to create a unique and engaging concert experience for audiences. The ensemble's programming often features lesser-known works alongside more familiar pieces, and the musicians strive to create a sense of intimacy and connection with their listeners. One of the highlights of Siren Ensemble's early years was their performance at the 2013 Chelsea Music Festival in New York City. The festival, which celebrates music, art, and food, featured Siren Ensemble in a program titled "The Art of the Duo." The ensemble's performance was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth. In 2014, Siren Ensemble released their debut album, "Shadow and Light," which featured works by composers such as Schubert, Brahms, and Ravel. The album received critical acclaim and helped to establish the ensemble as a rising star in the classical music world. Over the years, Siren Ensemble has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world. In 2016, the ensemble was invited to perform at the prestigious Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. The performance, which featured works by Beethoven and Brahms, was hailed as a triumph by critics and audiences alike. In addition to their live performances, Siren Ensemble has also been recognized for their work in education and outreach. The ensemble has conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and has worked with organizations such as the New York Philharmonic's Very Young Composers program to promote classical music to a wider audience. Siren Ensemble has also been the recipient of numerous awards and honors. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grant, which allowed them to collaborate with the New York City-based dance company, BalletCollective. The resulting performance, titled "The Impulse Wants Company," was praised for its innovative blend of music and dance. In 2017, Siren Ensemble was named a finalist in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The ensemble's performance of works by Brahms and Dvorak was praised for its technical skill and emotional depth. Today, Siren Ensemble continues to push the boundaries of classical music performance and education. The ensemble's members are dedicated to creating a sense of community and connection through their music, and are committed to inspiring the next generation of classical musicians and music lovers.
