Role:Conductor PerformerBruce Lamott is a renowned classical music artist who has made significant contributions to the world of music. He was born in 1948 in San Francisco, California, and grew up in a family that valued music. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a singer, so he was exposed to music from a young age. Lamott began his musical journey as a boy soprano in the San Francisco Boys Chorus. He continued to sing throughout his teenage years and eventually became a tenor. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a degree in music. After college, Lamott joined the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, where he sang for several years. He also sang with the San Francisco Opera Chorus and the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. During this time, he developed a passion for early music and began to specialize in the performance of Baroque music. In 1981, Lamott became the director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra Chorale, a position he held for over 30 years. Under his leadership, the chorale became one of the most respected early music ensembles in the world. He also served as the assistant conductor of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra for many years. Lamott's expertise in early music led to many opportunities to perform and record with other ensembles. He has worked with the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Opera, the Handel and Haydn Society, and the Boston Early Music Festival, among others. One of Lamott's most significant accomplishments was his work on the Grammy Award-winning recording of Handel's "Messiah" with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale. He served as the chorus master for the recording, which was released in 1991. Lamott has also been recognized for his contributions to the world of music. In 2009, he received the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Alumni Achievement Award. In 2012, he was awarded the American Bach Society's William H. Scheide Prize for his contributions to the performance of Bach's music. Throughout his career, Lamott has been a passionate advocate for early music. He has worked tirelessly to promote the performance of Baroque music and to educate audiences about its beauty and significance. His dedication to his craft has made him one of the most respected and beloved figures in the world of classical music.More....
