Born in 1975 in New York City, Kreitzer grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a very young age. His father was a jazz pianist and his mother was a classical pianist, and they both encouraged him to pursue music as a career. Kreitzer began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with some of the best saxophonists in the world, including Joe Lovano and Michael Brecker, and honed his skills through countless hours of practice and performance. In 1993, Kreitzer was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of saxophonist and composer Bob Mintzer. During his time at Juilliard, Kreitzer was exposed to a wide range of musical styles and began to develop his own unique voice as a musician. After graduating from Juilliard in 1997, Kreitzer began performing with some of the biggest names in jazz and classical music. He has played with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. Kreitzer's talent as a composer has also been recognized by the music world. He has written music for a variety of ensembles, including jazz big bands, symphony orchestras, and chamber groups. His compositions have been performed by some of the most prestigious ensembles in the world, including the Boston Pops Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. One of Kreitzer's most notable performances was his solo saxophone performance at the 2002 Grammy Awards. He was invited to perform as part of a tribute to the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks, and his emotional and powerful performance earned him widespread acclaim.
