Tobias PM Schneid was a German composer born on January 1, 1985, in Berlin. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Schneid showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later learned to play the violin and the cello, and by the age of ten, he had already composed his first piece of music. Schneid's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He attended the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where he studied composition under the guidance of renowned composers such as Hanspeter Kyburz and Wolfgang Rihm. During his time at the conservatory, Schneid developed a unique style of composition that blended traditional classical music with contemporary elements. Schneid's early works were heavily influenced by the music of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. His compositions were characterized by their intricate harmonies, complex rhythms, and use of counterpoint. He also experimented with different forms of music, including chamber music, orchestral music, and opera. One of Schneid's most notable works is his opera, "The Last Days of Socrates," which premiered in 2010. The opera is based on the trial and execution of the Greek philosopher Socrates and explores themes of justice, truth, and morality. The opera received critical acclaim for its innovative use of music and its powerful storytelling. Schneid's other notable works include his "String Quartet No. 1," which was premiered in 2008, and his "Symphony No. 1," which was premiered in 2012.
