The Winton Woods High School Choir is a classical music ensemble that has been entertaining audiences for over two decades. Founded in 1999, the choir has become a staple of the Winton Woods community, known for its exceptional performances and talented members. The choir was founded by music teacher, Mr. John Jones, who saw a need for a classical music ensemble in the school. He wanted to provide students with an opportunity to explore their musical talents and develop their skills in a supportive environment. With the help of a few dedicated students, Mr. Jones started the Winton Woods High School Choir. The choir's main members are students from Winton Woods High School, ranging from freshmen to seniors. The choir is open to all students who have a passion for music and a desire to perform. The choir is led by Mr. Jones, who has been the choir director since its inception. Over the years, the Winton Woods High School Choir has performed at numerous events and venues, both locally and nationally. Some of the choir's most notable performances include singing the national anthem at a Cincinnati Reds game, performing at the Ohio Music Education Association Conference, and singing at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. The choir has also won numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 2015, the choir won first place in the Ohio Music Education Association State Choir Competition. They have also received superior ratings at the National Choral Festival and the WorldStrides Heritage Festival. One of the choir's most memorable performances was their trip to New York City in 2017. The choir performed at Carnegie Hall, one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world. The choir received a standing ovation from the audience and was praised for their exceptional performance. In addition to their performances, the Winton Woods High School Choir is also involved in community service. The choir has performed at local nursing homes and hospitals, bringing joy and entertainment to those who may not be able to attend their concerts.
