Mariam Vardzelashvili is a renowned classical pianist from Georgia, known for her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born on December 22, 1987, in Tbilisi, Georgia, Mariam showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Mariam's early musical education was at the Tbilisi Central Music School, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Nino Chokhonelidze. She later continued her studies at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Nana Khubutia. Mariam's talent and hard work soon began to pay off, and she quickly gained recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2006, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Tbilisi, and in 2008, she was awarded the prestigious President's Scholarship for Young Talents in Georgia. Mariam's international career began in 2010, when she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Valencia, Spain. This victory opened the doors to many other opportunities, and she soon began performing in major concert halls around the world. One of Mariam's most notable performances was at the 2012 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. She was one of only 160 pianists selected from over 400 applicants to compete in the prestigious event, and her performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor was widely praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Mariam's success at the Chopin Competition led to many other high-profile performances, including appearances at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her busy concert schedule, Mariam is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. She has taught masterclasses at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music in London, and she is a frequent guest lecturer at music schools and universities around the world. Mariam's talent and hard work have been recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2014, she was awarded the Medal of Honor by the President of Georgia for her contributions to the country's cultural heritage.
