Artist Info
Furor Musicus is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2009 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for early music. The ensemble is based in Budapest, Hungary, and is known for its innovative and dynamic performances of Baroque and Renaissance music. The founding members of Furor Musicus were all graduates of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and they were united by a desire to explore the rich and diverse repertoire of early music. The ensemble's name, which means "musical frenzy" in Latin, reflects their commitment to bringing a fresh and exciting approach to this music. The core members of Furor Musicus are violinist Péter Szüts, cellist Balázs Máté, and harpsichordist Márton Borsányi. They are joined by a rotating cast of guest musicians, including some of the most talented early music specialists in Hungary and beyond. Since its founding, Furor Musicus has become one of the most respected and sought-after early music ensembles in Hungary. They have performed at major festivals and concert halls throughout the country, including the Budapest Early Music Festival, the Palace of Arts, and the Liszt Academy. One of the highlights of Furor Musicus's career was their performance at the 2012 Early Music Festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands. They were invited to perform as part of the festival's prestigious Fringe program, which showcases up-and-coming early music ensembles from around the world. Their performance was a huge success, and they received rave reviews from both audiences and critics. In addition to their live performances, Furor Musicus has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Bach: Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord," was released in 2011 and received widespread praise for its virtuosic performances and innovative interpretations. They have since released several more albums, including "Vivaldi: The Four Seasons" and "Handel: Trio Sonatas." Furor Musicus has also been recognized with several awards and honors for their contributions to the early music world. In 2013, they were awarded the prestigious Early Music Prize by the Hungarian Academy of Arts, which recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of early music. They have also been nominated for several other awards, including the Gramophone Classical Music Award and the International Classical Music Award. Despite their success, the members of Furor Musicus remain committed to their mission of bringing early music to new audiences and exploring the rich and diverse repertoire of this music. They continue to perform regularly throughout Hungary and beyond, and their innovative and dynamic performances are sure to delight audiences for years to come.More....
