His father is a cellist, and his mother is a pianist, so it was only natural that he would be drawn to music from a young age. Van Bellen began playing the violin at the age of five and quickly showed a talent for the instrument. He studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek at the Sweelinck Academy in Amsterdam and later with Pavel Vernikov at the Vienna Conservatory. He also received guidance from renowned violinists such as Maxim Vengerov, Ivry Gitlis, and Shlomo Mintz. Van Bellen's talent was recognized early on, and he won several awards and competitions as a young musician. In 2005, he won the first prize at the Princess Christina Competition, and in 2007, he won the first prize at the National Violin Competition Oskar Back. He also won the prestigious Dutch Classical Talent Award in 2014. Van Bellen has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. He has also performed at major music festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Verbier Festival, and the Rheingau Musik Festival. One of Van Bellen's most memorable performances was his debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2013. He performed the Violin Concerto No. 1 by Dmitri Shostakovich under the baton of conductor Andris Nelsons. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Van Bellen was praised for his technical skill and emotional depth. Van Bellen is also a passionate chamber musician and has collaborated with many renowned musicians. He is a member of the Busch Trio, which he founded with his brother Ori and pianist Omri Epstein. The trio has performed at major venues such as the Wigmore Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In addition to his performing career, Van Bellen is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Amsterdam Conservatory and has given masterclasses around the world. Van Bellen's playing is characterized by his technical precision and emotional depth. He has a deep understanding of the music he plays and is able to convey its meaning to his audience. He is also known for his ability to connect with his fellow musicians on stage, creating a sense of intimacy and collaboration that is rare in classical music. Van Bellen has received many accolades for his playing, including the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2017.
