Egida Giordani Sartori was born on May 5, 1948, in Verona, Italy. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a violinist and her mother a pianist. From a young age, Sartori showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of six. Sartori's musical education continued at the Conservatory of Verona, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Carlo Zecchi. She later went on to study with other notable pianists, including Nikita Magaloff and Maria Tipo. In 1970, Sartori made her debut as a soloist with the Orchestra della Radio Televisione Italiana, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. This performance marked the beginning of a successful career as a concert pianist. Throughout her career, Sartori has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, and Zubin Mehta. Sartori's repertoire is vast and includes works by many of the great composers, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and Debussy. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, and has been praised for her ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of his music. In addition to her performances as a soloist, Sartori has also been active as a chamber musician. She has collaborated with many distinguished musicians, including violinist Salvatore Accardo and cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. Sartori's talent and dedication to her craft have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 1972, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. She has also been awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is given annually by the Italian music critics' association to the best performers and productions in the country. Despite her success, Sartori has remained humble and dedicated to her art. She has said that her goal as a musician is to "communicate the beauty and emotion of the music to the audience." Her performances are known for their technical precision and emotional depth, and she continues to inspire audiences around the world with her artistry.
