He wrote the score for the 1936 film "Die Drei von der Tankstelle," which became a huge hit and established Jary as a leading composer of film music in Germany. He went on to write music for over 100 films, including "Münchhausen" (1943), "Die Frau meiner Träume" (1944), and "Die Fledermaus" (1946). Jary's music was known for its catchy melodies and upbeat rhythms. He was particularly skilled at writing music for dance sequences, and his music was often used in musical comedies. He also wrote songs that became popular hits, such as "Ich weiß, es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen" and "Bel Ami." During World War II, Jary was drafted into the German army and served as a musician in a military band. After the war, he was briefly imprisoned by the Allies but was released due to lack of evidence of any wrongdoing. In the post-war years, Jary continued to compose music for films and also wrote music for stage productions. He wrote the music for the musical "Himmel und Erde" (1950) and the operetta "Die Blume von Hawaii" (1956). He also wrote music for television, including the theme song for the popular German crime series "Tatort." Jary's music was popular not only in Germany but also in other countries. His music was used in Hollywood films such as "The Big Broadcast of 1938" and "The Great Waltz." He also wrote music for French films, including "Le Diable au corps" (1947) and "Les Amants de Montparnasse" (1958).
