La Voce Strumentale is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2006 by Dmitry Sinkovsky, a Russian violinist, countertenor, and conductor. The ensemble is based in Moscow, Russia, and is known for its unique approach to performing Baroque and Classical music. Dmitry Sinkovsky was born in Moscow in 1980 and began studying the violin at the age of five. He later studied at the Moscow Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. Sinkovsky is a versatile musician who is equally comfortable performing as a violinist and a countertenor. He has won numerous awards for his performances, including the Grand Prix at the Moscow International Niccolò Paganini Competition in 2002. La Voce Strumentale was founded by Sinkovsky with the goal of creating a new kind of Baroque ensemble that would combine the best elements of historically informed performance practice with modern musical sensibilities. The ensemble's name, which means "the instrumental voice," reflects this goal. The ensemble's core members include Dmitry Sinkovsky on violin and countertenor, Maxim Emelyanychev on harpsichord and piano, and Alexei Lubimov on fortepiano. Other members of the ensemble include Dmitry Lepekhov on viola, Dmitry Badiarov on violoncello, and Alexei Zhilin on double bass. La Voce Strumentale has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and the Salzburg Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the world's leading soloists, including mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli and violinist Giuliano Carmignola. One of the ensemble's most notable performances was its 2013 concert at the Salzburg Festival, where it performed a program of music by Antonio Vivaldi. The concert was praised by critics for its energy, precision, and musicality. The ensemble has also received critical acclaim for its recordings, including its 2015 album of Vivaldi's violin concertos, which was named one of the best classical albums of the year by The New York Times. La Voce Strumentale has won several awards for its performances and recordings, including the Diapason d'Or and the Choc de Classica. The ensemble's commitment to excellence and innovation has made it one of the most exciting and dynamic ensembles in the world of classical music.More....
