Wei-Han Su is a Taiwanese classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his exceptional talent and musicality. Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1989, Su began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. He went on to study at the National Taiwan Normal University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 2011. After completing his undergraduate studies, Su moved to the United States to pursue further education in music. He enrolled in the Master of Music program at the University of Michigan, where he studied under the renowned pianist Logan Skelton. During his time at Michigan, Su won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Concerto Competition, which allowed him to perform as a soloist with the university's orchestra. Following his success at Michigan, Su continued his studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2018. While at Texas, Su was a recipient of the prestigious Presser Graduate Music Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in music performance and education. Throughout his career, Su has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and music festivals. He has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, the Austin Symphony Orchestra, and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. He has also given recitals in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei. One of Su's most notable performances was his debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 2016. The program featured works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Liszt, and was met with critical acclaim. The New York Concert Review praised Su's "impeccable technique and musicality," while the New York Classical Review called him a "pianist of great promise." In addition to his performances, Su is also an accomplished educator. He has served as a piano instructor at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Michigan, and has given masterclasses and workshops at institutions around the world. He is known for his dedication to teaching and his ability to inspire young musicians. Su's talent and hard work have earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In addition to the Presser Graduate Music Award, he has been a recipient of the Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship, the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance Scholarship, and the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music Scholarship. Despite his many accomplishments, Su remains humble and focused on his craft. He continues to perform and teach, always striving to improve and inspire others with his music.
