Sue Hadjopoulos is a renowned percussionist and composer in the world of classical music. Born in New York City in 1959, Hadjopoulos grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. Her father was a jazz pianist and her mother was a singer, and they encouraged her to pursue music as a career. Hadjopoulos began her musical training on the piano, but soon switched to percussion after discovering her love for the instrument. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School, where she honed her skills as a percussionist and composer. In the early 1980s, Hadjopoulos began performing with the Philip Glass Ensemble, a group led by the renowned composer Philip Glass. She quickly became a key member of the ensemble, and her performances with the group helped to establish her as a rising star in the world of classical music. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Hadjopoulos continued to perform with a variety of ensembles and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and the American Symphony Orchestra. She also began to establish herself as a composer, writing music for a variety of ensembles and solo performers.
