Birth:1996Randall Goosby is a young and talented classical music artist who has been making waves in the industry since he was a child. Born on May 18, 1996, in Memphis, Tennessee, Goosby was raised in a family of musicians. His mother was a pianist, and his father was a jazz drummer, so it was only natural that he would develop a love for music at a young age. Goosby began playing the violin when he was just seven years old, and he quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He began taking lessons with Karen Clarke, a renowned violin teacher in Memphis, and he soon became one of her star pupils. By the time he was 13, Goosby had won several local and regional competitions, and he was already being recognized as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2010, Goosby was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he continued his studies with renowned violin teacher Itzhak Perlman. Under Perlman's guidance, Goosby's talent continued to flourish, and he began to gain national recognition for his performances. In 2011, he won first prize in the Junior Division of the Sphinx Competition, a prestigious competition for young black and Latino classical musicians. This win helped to launch his career and put him on the radar of many top music industry professionals. Over the next few years, Goosby continued to build his reputation as a talented and dynamic performer. He performed at the White House for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and he was featured on NPR's "From the Top" radio program. In 2013, he won first prize in the Senior Division of the Sphinx Competition, becoming the first person to win both the Junior and Senior divisions of the competition. In 2016, Goosby graduated from the Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Music degree, and he immediately began to establish himself as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's top orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many of the world's top conductors, including Michael Tilson Thomas, Leonard Slatkin, and Marin Alsop. In addition to his work as a soloist, Goosby is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's top chamber ensembles, including the Harlem Quartet, the Catalyst Quartet, and the Sphinx Virtuosi. He is also a founding member of the Montclair String Quartet, a group of young musicians who are dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in classical music. Throughout his career, Goosby has been recognized for his talent and his contributions to the classical music world. In 2018, he was named a Sphinx Medal of Excellence recipient, an award that recognizes young black and Latino classical musicians who have demonstrated artistic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to their communities. He was also named a 2020 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist, an honor that recognizes young artists who are making significant contributions to the arts. Despite his many accomplishments, Goosby remains humble and focused on his craft. He is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in classical music, and he is passionate about using his platform to inspire the next generation of musicians.More....
