Ilse Graubina was born on May 15, 1985, in Riga, Latvia. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Ilse showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Ilse's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Vera Gornostaeva, at the age of six. Under Gornostaeva's guidance, Ilse developed a deep understanding and appreciation for classical music. Ilse's talent was quickly recognized, and she began performing in public at the age of eight. She won her first competition at the age of ten, and by the age of twelve, she had already performed with several orchestras in Latvia. In 1998, Ilse's family moved to the United States, where she continued her musical education. She studied at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. During her time at Juilliard, Ilse had the opportunity to study with some of the most renowned pianists in the world, including Emanuel Ax, Yoheved Kaplinsky, and Jerome Lowenthal. She also had the opportunity to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Ilse's talent and hard work paid off, and she quickly gained recognition as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. In 2007, she won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is held every four years and is named after the renowned American pianist Van Cliburn. The competition is open to pianists from all over the world and is considered one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Ilse's win at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition was a major milestone in her career. It brought her international recognition and opened up new opportunities for her to perform around the world. Since winning the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Ilse has performed with some of the most renowned orchestras in the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic.
