Nils Petter Molvær is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter, composer, and producer who has made significant contributions to the world of contemporary jazz and electronic music. Born on September 18, 1960, in Langevåg, Norway, Molvær grew up in a musical family and began playing the trumpet at the age of eight. He was inspired by his father, who was a jazz guitarist, and his mother, who was a classical pianist. Molvær's early musical education was primarily focused on classical music, but he soon became interested in jazz and began playing in local bands. He studied at the Trondheim Musikkonservatorium and later at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he was mentored by the renowned jazz trumpeter and composer Jon Christensen.
