Born on August 22, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, John Contiguglia showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. His parents, both of whom were musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. John Contiguglia received his early musical training from his mother, who was a pianist and teacher. He later studied with renowned pianists such as Rosina Lhevinne, Leon Fleisher, and Menahem Pressler. He also attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree. In 1971, John Contiguglia won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, which launched his career as a concert pianist. He has since performed with major orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also given recitals in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Albert Hall.
