The group was founded in 1971 by Jim Clancy, a music educator and barbershop enthusiast, in Dallas, Texas. Clancy had a vision of creating a male a cappella group that would showcase the beauty and complexity of barbershop harmony. In addition to their live performances, Vocal Majority has released numerous albums over the years, including "The Vocal Majority Christmas," "The Vocal Majority Live," and "The Vocal Majority Goes Broadway." Vocal Majority has also been recognized for their philanthropic efforts. The group has raised over $5 million for various charities, including the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In 1996, Vocal Majority was inducted into the Barbershop Harmony Society Hall of Fame, cementing their place as one of the most influential and talented barbershop ensembles of all time.
