He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium and the Conservatory of Paris in France. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the country's most talented guitarists and began to attract a following. Gaspar's music was a fusion of classical, jazz, and folk styles, and he was known for his virtuosity and improvisational skills. Gaspar's first major performance came in 1972 when he was invited to perform at the International Guitar Festival in Cali, Colombia. His performance was a huge success, and he was invited to perform at other festivals and events throughout the country. Gaspar's popularity continued to grow, and he soon became a household name in Colombia. In 1975, Gaspar released his first album, "Gaspar Hoyos," which was a collection of his original compositions. He went on to release several more albums over the years, including "Canciones de la Tierra" and "Guitarra de Colombia." Gaspar's music was not only popular in Colombia but also gained international recognition. He performed at festivals and events throughout Europe and the Americas and was invited to perform at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in 1980.
