Concerto Foscari
Artist Info
Concerto Foscari is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is named after the famous Venetian palace, Palazzo Foscari, which was built in the 15th century and is now home to the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The founding members of Concerto Foscari were violinist Andrea Rognoni, cellist Francesco Dillon, and pianist Emanuele Torquati. All three musicians had extensive experience performing as soloists and in various chamber music ensembles before coming together to form Concerto Foscari. Since its founding, Concerto Foscari has become known for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by both well-known and lesser-known composers, with a particular focus on music from the 20th and 21st centuries. One of the highlights of Concerto Foscari's early career was its performance at the 2013 Venice Biennale, one of the world's most prestigious arts festivals. The ensemble's program included works by Italian composers Luigi Nono and Salvatore Sciarrino, as well as a world premiere of a new work by American composer Elliott Sharp. In 2014, Concerto Foscari released its debut album, "The Edge of Silence," which featured works by Nono, Sciarrino, and Sharp. The album received critical acclaim and was named one of the best classical albums of the year by several publications. In addition to its performances and recordings, Concerto Foscari is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and has collaborated with several schools and music organizations to bring classical music to new audiences. Concerto Foscari has also been recognized for its achievements with several awards and honors. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious "Premio Abbiati" by the Italian music critics' association, which is considered one of the highest honors in the Italian classical music world. The following year, Concerto Foscari was named "Ensemble of the Year" by the Italian music magazine "Amadeus." Today, Concerto Foscari continues to perform and record, with a busy schedule of concerts and collaborations with other musicians and ensembles. The ensemble's commitment to innovative programming and education ensures that it will remain a vital force in the classical music world for years to come.More....
