Braid's classical compositions are characterized by their intricate harmonies and use of unconventional instrumentation. He often incorporates elements of jazz and folk music into his compositions, creating a unique and eclectic sound. Some of his most notable works include "The North," a suite for piano and string quartet that explores the natural beauty of Canada's northern landscape, and "The Eternal Light," a choral work that sets texts from various religious traditions to music. Braid's work has been performed by a number of prominent musicians and ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the Gryphon Trio. He has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including saxophonist Mike Murley and vocalist Patricia O'Callaghan.
