The Jaak Gregoor Chorus is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their stunning performances for over three decades. Jaak Gregoor was born in Belgium in 1946 and began his musical career as a pianist. However, he soon discovered his passion for choral music and began conducting choirs in his hometown of Ghent. In 1989, he founded the Jaak Gregoor Chorus with the goal of creating a world-class ensemble that would showcase the beauty and power of choral music. The Jaak Gregoor Chorus is made up of approximately 40 singers, all of whom are highly trained and experienced musicians. Over the years, the Jaak Gregoor Chorus has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras, including Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of the highlights of the Jaak Gregoor Chorus's career was their performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the 2002 Salzburg Festival. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising the choir's "exquisite phrasing" and "impeccable intonation." The ensemble was awarded the festival's prestigious Golden Mozart Medal in recognition of their outstanding performance. In addition to their live performances, the Jaak Gregoor Chorus has also recorded several critically acclaimed albums. Their recording of Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil was named "Record of the Year" by Gramophone magazine in 1995, and their recording of Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001.
