Luminescence Chamber Choir is a classical music ensemble based in Dublin, Ireland. The choir was founded in 2012 by conductor and composer Michael T. Dawson, who sought to create a professional-level choir that would showcase the best of Irish choral music. The choir's name, Luminescence, reflects its mission to illuminate the beauty and power of choral music through its performances. The choir is made up of 24 singers, all of whom are highly trained and experienced musicians. From its inception, Luminescence has been dedicated to performing a wide range of choral music, from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary works. The choir has collaborated with many of Ireland's leading composers, including Bill Whelan, Michael McGlynn, and Elaine Agnew, and has premiered numerous new works. One of the highlights of Luminescence's early years was its performance at the 2013 Cork International Choral Festival, where the choir won the prestigious Fleischmann International Trophy. This award, which is given to the best choir in the competition, was a major achievement for Luminescence and helped to establish the choir as one of Ireland's leading choral ensembles. Since then, Luminescence has gone on to perform at many of Ireland's top music festivals, including the Kilkenny Arts Festival, the Galway International Arts Festival, and the West Cork Chamber Music Festival. The choir has also toured internationally, performing in the United States, Canada, and Europe. One of the choir's most memorable performances was its collaboration with the Irish Chamber Orchestra in 2016. The concert, which was held at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, featured works by Mozart, Haydn, and Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy. The concert was widely praised for its virtuosic performances and innovative programming. In addition to its performances, Luminescence is also committed to music education and outreach. The choir regularly works with schools and community groups to promote choral music and inspire the next generation of musicians. Luminescence has released two albums to date: "Luminescence" (2014) and "Reflections" (2018). Both albums feature a mix of traditional and contemporary choral music, and have received critical acclaim.
